Margin requirements are linked to the level of leverage applied to your account. If leverage changes, the required margin will adjust accordingly. Market conditions may require adjustments to the leverage or margin parameters available to clients.
For instruments with a designated profit currency, both the contract value and realized profit or loss are calculated in that currency. Clients should be aware that conversions to their account’s base currency may affect the final amount received.
Are there any tax considerations when trading U.S. Share CFDs as a non-U.S. resident?
Yes. According to U.S. IRS regulations, non-U.S. residents are subject to withholding tax on dividend adjustments related to U.S. equity derivatives, including CFDs. If you hold a long position, dividend payments will be credited to your account after the applicable withholding tax is deducted. Short positions are not affected by this rule.
Can I reduce the amount of withholding tax on U.S. dividend payments?
You may be eligible for a reduced withholding tax rate. To apply, individuals should complete Form W-8BEN, and corporate entities should submit Form W-8BEN-E. Once completed, please send the form to your account manager for further assistance.
